Even if the situation remains tense for the Pope, there is cautiously positive news for the faithful for the first time.

Once in the morning and once in the evening, the Vatican provides information on the state of health of the Pope, who has already been hospitalized for 13 days. Initially, it was “only” bronchitis, but now both lungs are inflamed. At times, he even had to struggle with attacks of breathlessness as a result – and his kidneys were also in danger of failing.

His condition has remained unchanged over the last few days. The Pope ate breakfast, sat in an armchair repeatedly, and carried out his official duties as best he could. In the evenings, the faithful always gathered in St. Peter’s Square.

Their prayers have now apparently been answered. As the Vatican announced on Wednesday evening, Pope Francis’ state of health has “slightly improved.” The slight renal insufficiency observed in recent days has also regressed. The chest CT scan also shows a normal development of the pneumonia.

Nevertheless, the doctors’ prognosis remains “cautious.” The head of the church is still dependent on oxygen therapy with high flow rates. And what else? “In the morning, the Holy Father received the Eucharist. The afternoon was dedicated to work activities.”
